Number 23 / February 2008:
Suite No. 1 For Small Orchestra
My first foray into symphonic music, well...'virtual' symphonic music. I did this in
Cubase 4 with the EWQL Symphonic Orchestra Gold XP sample collection. It's an
odd little 3-movement piece. It was basically me trying to work out how to use the
thing. Nothing was quantized, and in places, unfortunately it shows!

1st Movement: Mysterious Rise Of The Kitchen Utensils
2nd Movement: Last Words
3rd Movement: The Kitchen Utensils' Attack

The instrumentation is:

Snare Drum (2)
Cymbals
Double Bass (9)
Trombone (4)
Trumpet (4)
Harp
Cello
Tambourine
Anvil
Waterphone (the weird squeaky thing)
Xylophone (2)
Marimba

Number 22 / January 2008:
Chasing A Memory
Here's some rough stuff for you. I believe this was done in May 2005. This is a
demo version of a song that was supposed to go on the
Carnivorous Snowglobes
album, but I never got around to recording a proper version of it. Oh well. This is
about as rough as it gets, with messed up chord changes, sloppy rhythm, and bad
vocals. But it is kind of a cool song. Well, it would have been!
This is the only recording I've ever made with a 'Nashville-tuned' guitar (actually
just my 12-string with the low strings taken off).

Instruments used: Wurlitzer 206, DeArmond electric guitars, voice.
